Rodys OP is the sodium salt of polycondensates of naphthalene sulfonic acid with formaldehyde, offered in the form of a dark-brown powder. The technology of Rodys OP production allows obtaining a product containing trace amounts of free formaldehyde and naphthalene. Therefore, Rodys OP neither has an environmental classification, nor does it affect the content of free aromatic hydrocarbons in the products for which it is used. It is the equivalent of Rodys O in chemical and operation terms.

Among the entire Rodys series, Rodys OP has a high degree of polymerization, as well as a high content of active substance with a low content of sulfate (VI) ions. The high quality of the offered product means that it has found numerous applications in the most demanding industries, such as agricultural chemistry. In addition, the powder form of the product is an extremely economical solution in the context of product transport or storage. Rodys OP is especially dedicated to the production of water dispersions. Its structure, based on a hydrophobic main chain with attached hydrophilic sulfone groups, allows adsorption on the surface of the particles, and creates a layer of unipolar charges. The interaction of unipolar charges causes mutual repulsion of agglomerates and, in special cases, the formation of both colloidal systems, and non-coagulating suspensions of solids in a continuous liquid phase (water). The use of a suitable dispersant allows obtaining dispersion systems with appropriate viscosities (enabling the pumpability of the mixture) and the desired size of dispersed particles. The latter property often determines the further success of the production process. Rodys O enables the formation of a time-stable dispersion which particles do not reaggregate for a long time. Due to the complexity of the dispersion process, and the multitude of key parameters, it is recommended to test the product in conditions as close as possible to those prevailing in the given application.
